The applicant’s conviction was upheld on 23 October 1998 by the Varna Court of Appeals. In the proceedings the applicant had been assisted by a court-appointed lawyer.

    On 7 July 1999 the Varna Regional Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against the applicant with the Varna Regional Court.

On 21 June 2006 the applicant was arrested in connection with the murder of a 75-year-old lady committed three days earlier in Varna.

The orders were made available on the Varna Regional Administration’s website on the day of their issuance.

    The Court notes that the first applicant submitted his appeal on points of law after the charges against him had been determined by both the Varna District Court and the Varna Regional Court
