Mrs Elisabeth Palm , the Swedish judge, and Mr Christos Rozakis , the Greek judge, were elected Vice-Presidents and Mr Nicolas Bratza, and Mr Matti Pellonpää , respectively the British and Finnish judges, were elected Presidents of Chambers. The terms of office will begin to run on 1   November.     Mr Wildhaber was born in 1937. He studied law at Basle and Yale universities. In 1977 he was appointed Professor at Basle University. From 1992 to 1994 he was Rector of the University. From 1975 to 1988 he sat as a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Principality of Liechtenstein and from 1989 to 1994 as a judge of the Administrative Tribunal of the Inter-American Development Bank. In 1991 he was elected judge of the European Court of Human Rights.     Mrs Palm was born in 1936. She studied law at Uppsala University. In 1972 she was appointed judge of the Administrative Court of Appeal. In 1978 she became Permanent Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Local Government and from 1979 to 1982 Under-Secretary of State. In 1983 she was appointed Justice of the Supreme Administrative Court and in 1996 President of the Administrative Court of Appeal in Göteborg.   She is also a member of the Administrative Tribunal of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). She was elected judge of the European Court of Human Rights in 1988.     Mr Rozakis was born in 1941.   He studied law in Athens and London and at the University of Illinois.   From 1975 to 1985 he was a professor at the "Pantios" University in Athens (1975-1985). He is currently Professor of International Law at the University of Athens.   He was elected a member of the European Commission of Human Rights in 1987.     Mr Bratza was born in 1945.   He studied law at Oxford University.   After qualifying as a barrister, he was appointed a Junior Counsel to the Crown, and subsequently a Queen's Counsel.   In 1993 he was elected a Bencher of Lincoln's Inn and appointed a Recorder of the Crown Court. He was elected a member of the European Commission of Human Rights in 1993 and is currently Vice-President of a Commission Chamber.     Mr Pellonpää was born in 1950.   He studied law at the University of Helsinki, and is currently Professor of Law at that university.   He has been a member of a panel of the United Nations Compensation Commission and was recently appointed an Extraordinary Justice at the Supreme Administrative Court of Finland.   He was elected a member of the European Commission of Human Rights in 1990 and is President of a Commission Chamber.         Further biographical details may be obtained from the registry of the present Court or the Secretariat of the European Commission of Human Rights.Citations
