TURKEY   (application no. 26973/95)     A delegation of three Judges of the European Court of Human Rights (Fourth Section of the Court), composed of Antonio Pastor Ridruejo (Spanish), Matti Pellonpää (Finnish), and Snejana Botoucharova (Bulgarian) took evidence from witnesses in Ankara (Turkey) from Monday 2 to Thursday 5 April 2001 in the Yöyler application.   The Yöyler v. Turkey application was introduced before the European Commission of Human Rights on 11 March 1995 and declared admissible on 13 January 1997. Under Protocol No. 11 to the European Convention on Human Rights, this case is now considered by the European Court of Human Rights.   The applicant, Celalettin Yöyler, complained about the burning and destruction of his house and possessions along with those of other residents related to him in the village of Dirimpınar attached to the Malazgirt district in the province of Muş, allegedly by State security forces. The applicant alleged violations of Articles 3, 6, 8, 13, 14 and 18 of the Convention and Article 1 of Protocol No. 1 to the Convention.   The Turkish Government submitted that the applicant had not used the remedies provided for in Turkish legislation. They also denied that the applicant’s house was destroyed by the security forces.   ***   Further information on the Court can be found on its Internet site, http://www.echr.coe.int   Registry of the European Court of Human Rights F – 67075 Strasbourg Cedex Contacts:   Roderick Liddell (telephone: (0)3 88 41 24 92) Fax:   (0)3 88 41 27 91     The European Court of Human Rights was set up in Strasbourg in 1959 to deal with alleged violations of the 1950 European Convention on Human Rights.
