At the time of the events giving rise to the application, the applicant was the editor-in-chief of a periodical entitled “Call for the New World”, (“ Yeni Dünya İçin Çağrı ”). The application concerns the criminal proceedings brought against the applicant for disseminating propaganda in favour of the PKK, an illegal armed organisation under section 7 § 2 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Law no. 3713), on account of an article entitled “Kurdish Question, Search for a Solution and Our Duties” (“ Kürt Sorunu, Çözüm Arayışları ve Görevlerimiz ”), published in the issue of January 2007 of the periodical. The applicant was convicted and sentenced to a total of one year and three months of imprisonment. The applicant relies on Article 10 of the Convention. QUESTION tO THE PARTIES Has there been a violation of the applicant’s right to freedom of expression, contrary to Article 10 of the Convention, on account of his conviction under section 7 § 2 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act?
