Two court instances refused to have the applicant escorted to their hearings.

On 30 November 2009 the Volgograd Regional Court held an appeal hearing in the applicant’s case. Neither the applicant nor his counsels K. and G. were present at that hearing.

The applicant complains under Article 6 of the Convention that his right to a fair hearing was breached, as he was not aware of the proceedings and the hearing of 21 April 2016.

In a separate decision on 18 June 2008, the Administrative Court of Appeal rejected the applicant’s request for an oral hearing as such hearing was considered unnecessary.
